Westerly - Pawcatuck Renovation
In keeping with our mission and commitment to serve more people, the Board of Directors is moving forward with a capital improvement program. This is an extraordinary opportunity and a great challenge which will require the support of everyone committed to advancing our sense of community. With your help, we can achieve the future goal of the project. Please give as generously as you are able.
Our Volunteer Campaign Leadership
We would like to acknowledge our volunteer campaign leadership.
Capital Campaign Chair: Richard C. Holliday
Chair of Foundation Division: Rogean Makowski
Chair of Community Division: Edward P. Smith
Key Elements of the Project Include:
Enlarge and Renovate the Wellness Center
We will more than triple the size of the Wellness Center to become a more modern and easily accessible exercise facility with increased program offerings and new equipment.
Redesign the Teen Center
On completion, 1,000 sq. ft. will be designated for young people in a supervised environment to create a positive and safe environment for them to call their own. The center will be equipped with a computer lab, game tables and other recreational activities.
Upgrade Child-Watch (formerly called Kids' Korner)
Infants and toddlers will have more room to run, jump and play in our supervised child care area for parents who want to get in a good workout. Child-Watch will offer exciting interactive play stations and is just one of the many programs we offer as the nation's largest child care provider.
Wellness Studios
There is now one exercise studio which is in need of updating and expanding. Two new studios will be added to meet the demand of Silver Sneakers, Yoga, Pilates and Group Wellness classes.
Relocate and Renovate Locker Room Facilities
We will relocate the locker rooms to the main floor with direct access to the pool area. The upgraded and modernized facilities will better serve the needs of our members.
Making a Gift Affordable
Gifts of all sizes will be needed to meet the cost of the project. The YMCA suggests a pledge period of up to five years, allowing you to give more by managing your commitment over time. There are a variety of ways to make a gift to the campaign. The YMCA will accept gifts of cash, securities, donations of building materials or services, to name a few. The Ocean Community YMCA is recognized as a charitable organization by the Internal Revenue Service. Gifts to the Growing Stronger Campaign are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
Ways to Give
Any of the following forms or combination of
forms may be used:
- Cash contributions
- Appreciated or depreciated securities, along with other marketable assets
- In-kind gifts of services or materials
- Insurance and IRAs
- Estate gifts, including charitable trusts
- Other
Honoring Others Through Commemorative Gifts
The Ocean Community YMCA offers a number of special
giving opportunities, with the designation of specific
facilities within and around the Westerly-Pawcatuck
branch. All of these opportunities significantly enhance
the range and quality of our programs and services.
A commemorative gift represents an ideal opportunity for
donors to express your public spirit, to honor a special
person or occasion, or to memorialize a family member or
friend.
A recognition plaque, inscribed for the donor, will be
mounted in the dedicated area. The plaque will serve as a
lasting testament of your community interest and
generosity.
